SUNDAY AFTERNOON CONCERT
WILL MARTIN - ENCORE
Back by popular demand
SUNDAY 11TH JUNE at 2pm
|
Will Martin performing in Basel, Switzerland
|
By no means a strictly classical singer, Will is renowned for his engaging performance style, alluring personality, and expressive voice across multiple musical genres. Live performances have included world-renowned stages and festivals from London’s Royal Albert Hall, Henley, and Hampton Court Palace, through to the Basel Military Tattoo in Switzerland.
Will’s inimitable voice has been heard on all seven continents. He is a regular performer at the world’s most prestigious governmental ceremonies and international sporting events, at such illustrious venues as Westminster Abbey, Wembley Stadium, and Chicago’s Soldier Field.
Will has led the New Zealand national anthem for the All Blacks ten times, and more recently, was honoured to present his arrangement of Requiem For A Soldier (the theme from Steven Spielberg’s Band Of Brothers) at the Auckland Museum’s ANZAC Day service, for His Royal Highness Prince William.
Will says:
“I can’t wait to return to Thames to perform next month, having been working overseas for the bulk of the Kiwi summer … Returning home to entertain New Zealanders is always the greatest reward for my international touring … see you soon !!”

THAMES HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS
will present a variety of instrumental and vocal arrangements.
Koha appreciated. ENJOY Hot soup and a bun after the concert for $5
The Music Department at Thames High School is currently supporting a number of junior students, having fare welled a group of talented seniors over the last two years. These junior students have arrived with an exciting skill level, and together they are going to create a strong department over the next few years.
Our piano department, taught by Ms. Sue Williams, has several talented pianists who arrived within this year’s Year Nine cohort, joined by two recently arrived international students. Our guitar and bass department, taught by Mr. Shade Smith, consists of all NCEA performance students, including some quite senior players: several of these students also compose their own music. We have a small but committed vocal ensemble, taught by Mr. Duncan Bower, and it is exciting to hear their voices mature and their ensemble skills develop. Our drum department, taught by Miss Hannah de Koster, comprises advanced beginners through to intermediate level. We have a fledgling orchestral string department we look forward to presenting, along with our new woodwind players, in 2024. |
Our programme this year is a mix of genres, and an original composition, and includes our singers, pianists, guitarists, and bands. It is themed around Matariki. HOD Dr NIchola Voice

Our Supporters
The Thames Music Group has always been extremely grateful for the support of St Georges Church for the continued use of their beautiful church.
We are grateful too for generous grants from Creative New Zealand, the Thames Coromandel District Council and the Waikato Community Trust which help in paying for professional performers, and with the upkeep of the piano, but most of all we are grateful to the people of Thames and our wider Coromandel community who have supported us over the years, and who we hope will continue to do so.
